Heather McLean
Our lead trainer is Heather McLean, a full time freelance journalist. Heather is a business, IT and education reporter. She currently writes for 3G Mobile Broadband magazine, Automated Trader, Computer Weekly, E-Forex magazine, The Guardian Education and educ@ supplements, Total Telecom Online and Magazine, among other publications. She is also deputy news editor for magazine, Comms Dealer.
Additionally, Heather has written for Communications News, Eastern European Wireless Communications, Information Age, IT Training, The Times Educational Supplement (TES) Online, TES Teacher and The Times Online, Technology for Finance, Telecommunications International and Real Business.
She also writes case studies for individual companies. These include global communications technology provider Alcatel, and clients of various PR agencies such as international marketing firm Rivercalm.
Prior to becoming a freelance reporter, Heather was senior networks reporter for online IT publication, silicon.com, where she covered daily news in all areas. Heather was involved in producing content for silicon.com's streaming TV Gadget Showdown and Behindthe Headlines. She also read the news for the Executive News Summery.
Before she moved to silicon, Heather was assistant editor on monthly magazine, IT consultant.
Between leaving university and starting work, Heather travelled around the world. She resided in various countries including South Africa, Indonesia and India and did a variety of media jobs including producing a drive time radio show in Australia and presenting an extreme sport travel video in New Zealand.
Clint Witchalls
Clint Witchalls is a freelance journalist specialising in health, science and technology. He has written for a broad range of titles including the Economist, Newsweek, New Scientist, Guardian, Observer, Times and the Independent. Aside from writing features, Clint has also worked as a news editor and author. Clint recently completed a stint as news editor of the British Dental Journal.
Last year, Clint co-wrote a children's book called How Cool Stuff Works (Dorling Kindersley, 20th November 2005). The Guardian called it "An attention-grabbing way of getting technology-loving children to pick up a real book". Clint is currently working on a book about a clinical trial for the male pill called The Pill and I (Rowohlt, April 2007).
Clint has been a guest speaker on BBC Radio 4 (You and Yours), BBC Radio 2 (the Jeremy Vine Show), Radio 5 Live, LBC 97.3 (the James O'Brian Show), and Talk 106, Dublin.
Prior to becoming a journalist, he spent 15 years working in the IT industry working as a business analyst, project manager and consultant for Deloitte, Sema Group, Saatchi & Saatchi, Channel 4, and Sony Pictures Entertainment.
Clint received his BSc from the Open University and is currently studying for an MSc (part-time) in creative non-fiction writing at Imperial College London. Clint is a member of the Medical Journalists' Association as well as the Association of British Science Writers.
